A Milestone at Armada Court

Yesterday, Monday 16 February, marked a personal milestone: my 100th presentation since beginning my talks back in 2019. I couldn’t have wished for a more fitting place to celebrate it than with the wonderful residents of Armada Court Assisted Living on Parkfield Road, Topsham.

Built on the site of a former school, Armada Court blends the character of the original buildings with smart, modern accommodation blocks. The result is a setting full of history, warmth, and community spirit—an ideal backdrop for my talk, RAF Exeter 1940–1945. The presentation went down very well, and the residents generously shared their own memories and stories, which is always the most rewarding part of these visits.

My thanks go to Terry Stevens for organising the event and making me feel so welcome. A return visit is already being planned.

Exeter Airport: Moments in Time – Still Growing

The Exeter Airport: Moments in Time series continues to run on the Exeter Airport Memories Facebook page, and I’m delighted to say we’ve now passed 60 timeline events. Each entry helps build a comprehensive record of the remarkable history of our local airfield here in Devon—a living document that grows richer with every story uncovered.

The Facebook pages for Exeter Airport Memories and RAF Exeter 1940–1945 now work hand in hand, giving followers the choice to explore either the broader history of the airport or focus specifically on its wartime role. Together, they form a shared space for remembrance, discovery, and community engagement.

This blog will serve as a companion to the project

In the quiet corners of Devon, where the wind whispers through old airfields and the grass grows over forgotten dispersals, a new tribute has taken shape. Memories of a Lost Generation is more than a webpage — it’s a living act of remembrance.
